Gladys Has Slasher Random Thoughts

It is Friday again. Didn’t this week fly? Doesn’t it seem the closer to Christmas the faster the days go by? Honestly whose idea was it for it to get dark at four in the afternoon? Anyway seeing that it is Friday it is time for Mrs. 4444 over at Half Past Kissing Time to host Friday Fragments. She says her brain is picked dry, somehow I doubt that. Also and too it is Virtual Girl’s Night Out over at Ann Again and Again. Go on over link up to these and join in all the linky love.

Are you superstitious? Since it is Friday the 13th do you look for Jason over your shoulder? Or was that Halloween? No wait that was Freddy Kruger or was it Leather Face? I don’t know I get so confused.

The only thing scarier than this guy is this guy in a clown wig
Anyway do you cross the street to avoid a black cat? What if you own a black cat? Do you spend all of your time avoiding your cat?

This picture is from
If you can't adopt a pet at least donate to your
nearest pet rescue.
What about throwing salt over your left should if you spill it? Do you do that? I did that one time in a restaurant and hit the lady behind me right between the eyes. I didn’t know you were supposed to throw the spilled salt and not the salt shaker.

Chuck Todd yeah the Whitehouse reporter for NBC is a bet welcher. What am I talking about? Remember during the World Series when he bet the Whitehouse Press Secretary if his team lost he would shave off his mo-goat? Yeah that stupid looking moustache and half goatee thing that makes his face look like he is wearing a butthole? Yeah that thing. Anyway he lost his bet and he NEVER shaved.

Could it be that he is just Robert Gibbs in disguise? Maybe he doesn’t want to blow his cover.

It’s November and my mind tells me that I should be wearing sweaters and boots instead of shorts and flip flops.

It should look like this

                                                                                     Not this

I met the blogger known as Nanny Goats In Panties earlier this week in the Mento, Sacramento that is. You know what? She wasn’t a nanny goat and she was dressed in frilly panties. Go figure.

I took this from her.  She fought hard
but ...

She and her husband were very entertaining. Thanks NGIP we enjoyed meeting you.

Do you ever watch those shows Hoarder or Clean House? I just watched a couple of episodes this week and I now have the urge to purge. I swear I’m going to get rid of everything in my house. There will be nothing but concrete floors and bare walls. I don’t want Niecy Nash showing up at my house.

Now for my overheard of the week only it wasn’t actually overheard but more of a conversation with me.

Ceasar Chavez Park Sacramento, CA
I was in Bigbucks across from Chavez Park in Sacramento. I was in line behind a woman who had lots and lots of make-up caked on, carrying a big sparkly purse and bright pink pumps. She was holding a tattered and torn cup, one she obviously fished from the garbage.

Thanks Greenville Daily
She was carrying on a conversation with someone named Zenu. It was her turn at the counter when I realized she was going to get the nasty dirty cup refilled.

I moved up next to her and said to the Barista “hey that cup looks like it might leak. Why don’t you give her a fresh cup of coffee, you can put it on my tab. The Barista frowned and said “are you sure?” I smiled and said “Absolutely. I wouldn’t want her to leak coffee on her pretty pink shoes.” The Homeless woman continued her conversation with Zenu said to the air next to my head “That lady is going to take my shoes.”

The Barista smirked and asked “a latte or a regular coffee?” She turned away from her conversation with the mysterious Zenu and answered “regular, extra hot.” He handed her the new extra large extra hot cup of coffee and she turned toward the condiment table. It was my turn and I placed my order when I heard “Hey lady!” I turned to see the Homeless woman about to exit the coffee house. She smiled a big smile and said “tell your momma and dem I said HI!” I didn’t hesitate and I didn’t waiver I smiled and said “I sure will shug! You have a good day!” The Barista and the other patrons all stood wide eyed and starring. I just smiled and said “she must be from the south. We speak the same language.”

Oh and the Barista did not charge me for her coffee.

Also and too Otin over at The Wizard of Otin hosts Happy Hour Friday. Go on over check out what makes him happy and link yourself up. Now here is what makes me happy.

A little color in the middle of the desert

Cool old buidlings

Finding out your early morning flight is empty
and you have a 737 to yourself.

What are you doing this weekend?  Are you dragging your Christmas decorations out?  Getting ready to go to the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas?  Snowboarding?  Tell me what your weekend holds.
Me?  Kahuna and I will be at the beach.

Now go be good to one another and remember thoughts become things, think the good ones.

Oh wow - I didn't even realize that it was Friday the 13th until I read it on your post! I guess that answers the question of whether or not I'm superstitious. ;)

You met NannyGoat in Panties? Fantastic - she's hilarious!!

I loved your story about the homeless woman and her coffee. Not only was I cracking up (especially over the fact that you 'speak the same language', but it was touching as well! It's so nice to hear things like that and I'm glad that your generosity also touched the barista and turned your donated coffee into a free coffee!!

I was laughing at the thought of you belting someone in the eye with a salt shaker! haha!

You have a thing for the beach, as do I! :)

That was lovely of you to do that adn brave of the barrista as I ahve a freind who was a top employee of Starbux and gave a free coffee away for similar reasons and was caught, fired on the spot to boot. Sad.

Anyway, just so you know, no, I do not look like the bucket I drew. go figure.

Freddy scares the wits out of me. I have never been the same since I saw Elm street on big screen --never seen horror movies after that. But, no I am not superstiitous like that either.

Miss Gladys, what is your boxer's name. I have 2 goober faces, do they travel with you? They are the best with those that may be in need. Unconditional love, plus they lick up odd, stray buggers, from anywhere, then eat grass, and you know.

Eve - Yes I fell in love with NGIP and her husband.

Otin - well I was never accused of being graceful or the sharpest tack in the box. ;)

Kat - it was so bizarre I just had to share

NTR- I almost chased her down to see where she got those shoes. They were CUTE!

Becky - I went to school with a girl whose legal name was Shug.

mmm - All those slashers scare the bejesus out of me.

Anon - mostly I call him Mr. Poopieface. He is very protective of me so is the Lab. So I have 200 pounds of squiggly protection.

Hey, BFF, sista from another mother! Long time no read. I have lost my blogging chi somehow, but I'm working on getting it back. Reading your blog is really helping me get back on the horse, so to speak.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Oh, and speaking of rescuing animals, I bought the best magnet for my car the other day. It reads:
"Who rescued who?" Is that fabu, or what?

Man, I love reading your Friday Fragment Happy Hour VGNO posts! I don't even know where to begin to comment... ;)

I about spit out my coke when I read you accidentally hit a lady between the eyes with the salt shaker. LOL!

Coooool that you got to meet Nanny Goat in Panties!

My brain is telling me I need to be wearing my warm clothes, but Mother Nature is planning on sending us 68 degree weather on Sunday...after we've just had a cold snap. I really want to be able to put my warm weather clothes away instead of having them crowding my winter clothes!

I do watch Hoarders and Clean House every so does motivate me to purge and simplify, though I've yet to really get down to work and do it. Wonder if I should have them come do it for me? :)

LOVED the homeless woman/coffee scenario. You ROCK - as does the barista for not charging for the coffee.

Happy FF and VGNO and Happy Hour! :)

the crazy thing? This Friday the 13th, I was at a going-away party for some friends who are moving, and Leatherface was there. He said hi to me and moved through the crowd. Nice guy, really.

Ahhh...Friday the 13th, it just reminds me of the time Delaney fell off the bed and broke her leg at 18 months, yes it was Friday the 13th...we just recently stopped covering her in bubble wrap each time one rolled around (she's 8 1/2) :)

Have fun at the beach! We'll be pulling out all our warm clothes & heading down to Eugene to watch the Ducks play Arizona tomorrow night, I bet they'll feel colder than we do though...forecast, no rain 37 degrees...brr...

Happy VGNO!

ACK! I meant to talk about you this week and it got past me somehow *smacks forehead*.

It was so nice to meet YOU! And I'm still cracking up over that "You tell your momma and dem...." - I can still totally hear you saying it in your accent!

I'm going to check out NannyGoats blog. Anyone with goat in their name has to be ok!

Happy Belated VGNO!

Boomba - how the heck are you? Been waiting for another story!

Stacy - Glad it was just coke and not spiked. I would hate for you to have wasted al-key-hall.

Dawn- Did you tell him to say hi to hismommeranddem for me?

Julie- My kids are grown and I still wrap them in bubble wrap. It makes it interesting when I hit them with my wooden spoon. ;)

Lettuce- Do you avoid crossing his path while walking under a ladder and throwing salt over your shoulder?

Jamie - me neither.

NGIP - Honestly Kahuna and I haven't stopped talking about how great you guys are.

Carolee- Please do she is funny.

We just might go to the beach here, too--it's supposed to be in the 50's this weekend! Crazy. I'm ready for snow!

I loved slasher movies, but evolved to psychological thrillers. I'm not superstitious anymore, thank goodness.

Thanks for leaving the light on for me!
